When a client asked me to paint a view near her home in West Dorset as a gift for her son, our conversations uncovered a deeper need - a desire to capture the essence of home, something timeless & deeply comforting.

Because of dull weather, I had to wait several weeks before discovering my moment of inspiration. By that time I had found the perfect view close to her house: a vista rich with personal history & meaning. As I painted, I allowed the landscape to guide me, responding to the changing light & atmosphere until the painting felt complete.

It became more than a painting; it was an invitation to her son to stay feel connected, a way to carry the warmth of home wherever life might lead him.
